Account & Risk Management

Overview

Understanding your account metrics is essential to staying within risk rules and protecting your funded account. These figures are shown in the Account Stats Panel at the top-left of the terminal.

Q: What is the difference between Balance and Equity?

A: Balance (BAL.) is your account's cash value — it only changes when a trade is closed. Equity (EQTY) is your real-time net worth: Balance ± all open position profits and losses. If you have no open trades, Balance and Equity are equal.

Q: What is Unrealized P&L (UP&L) vs Realized P&L (RP&L)?

A: UP&L (Unrealized P&L) is the running profit or loss on your currently open positions — it fluctuates with the market. RP&L (Realized P&L) is the total profit or loss locked in from already-closed trades. Only RP&L affects your Balance.

Q: What is the Max Drawdown Limit (Max LL)?

A: Max LL is the absolute floor your account Equity (or Balance, depending on program rules) must never breach. For example, if Max LL is $90,000, your account equity must always remain above that threshold. Breaching this limit typically results in account termination on a funded challenge.

Q: What is the Daily Loss Limit (Daily LL)?

A: Daily LL is the minimum account value allowed for the current trading day. It resets daily and is usually calculated as a fixed percentage below your starting-day balance (e.g., 5%). If your equity drops to or below the Daily LL, trading for that day may be restricted.

Q: What is Free Margin and why does it matter?

A: Free Margin (FREE MRGN) is the portion of your equity not currently held as collateral for open positions. It represents the funds available to open new trades. If Free Margin drops too low, you may not be able to open additional positions or could receive a margin call.

Q: How do I monitor my risk in real time?

A: All key metrics — BAL., EQTY, UP&L, RP&L, Max LL, Daily LL, and FREE MRGN — are displayed live in the Account Stats Panel at the top of the left sidebar. Check these values before and during each trade, especially Daily LL, to ensure you remain within your program's risk parameters.
